Summer is in full swing and I am trying all sorts of methods to stay healthy and glowing this season. Fresh off my trip from Asia, I had the opportunity to learn about the benefits of drinking tea and there are a few good reasons you should try it as well. Dr. Michael Joseph Levry shares with us some of his favorite recipes that will help you stay looking (and feeling) fresh:

1. Black Sesame Seeds Tea
Turns out those little black seeds we are used to seeing on a sushi roll have more benefits than we could ever have imagined. “Black sesame seeds have the ability to restore hair color and nourish the skin, hair, teeth and nails”, explains Dr. Levry. “It also aids in weight loss and improves the body’s overall beauty and hair condition”. Black sesame seed teas are also great for women who struggle dry or malnourished skin. If you’re often anxious and unable to sleep, a cup of black sesame seed tea will boost your energy levels because of the healthy, high fat content.

It also aids in weight loss and improves the body’s overall beauty and hair condition.

2. Three Seed Tea
When Brewed together, the three healing seeds – fennel, coriander, and cumin – produce a pure detoxifying elixir that cleanses your body and skin of all impurities. Fennel seeds increase circulation in your digestive tract, coriander freshens your breath (great before a date) and is rich in vitamin C, while cumin is a general antiseptic.

3. Star Chai Tea
Probably one of the worst things is getting sick during the warm weather when all of our friends are outside enjoying the tropical vibes. “Star Chai tea is the easiest way to prevent the onset of a cold and flu” says Dr. Levry. Star Chai Tea includes a bunch of great ingredients, such as black pepper, cinnamon, ginger root, cloves and cardamom pods. Cinnamon has antimicrobial properties, black pepper is anti-viral and star anise is proven to promote healthy skin and prevent fungal infections.
